User Reviews

Overall, reviews praise Retro City Rampage DX as a faithful, content-rich mobile port with a fun retro vibe and solid controller compatibility. The main drawbacks are touch control limitations, missing cloud saves, absence of multiplayer, and lack of up-to-date device support. Players love the humor and open-world missions but want better input options, cloud syncing, and multiplayer to fully realize the game's potential.
Pros
  • Excellent mobile port with full content and solid controller support.
  • Humorous retro vibe with plenty of references and a satisfying open-world design.
  • Smooth gameplay and responsive performance, especially when using a controller.
  • Wide variety of missions and Easter eggs that boost replay value.
Cons
  • Touchscreen controls are difficult; many reviewers want fixed controls or a D-pad option.
  • No cloud save or cross-device syncing; iCloud save support is missing.
  • No multiplayer; players frequently request online/local multiplayer.
  • Lack of support for newer iPhone hardware (e.g., iPhone X and newer screens) and related performance optimizations.

Simply put, one of the finest mobile ports of an action arcade game I have ever seen. All the content is there and it controls well, with support for controllers. And to top it off, it’s Retro City Rampage. Have Fun!

Originally my review recently was a bit low because due to switching from a Moga controller to Backbone made it impossible to use the button for car jacking (instead it thought it was another pause button). I’m very satisfied with how fast the patch was applied after emailing the creator! The only problem I found now is that occasionally the music goes silent especially for missions. Exiting to the main menu and starting the save again does not fix it. The only way I’ve ever seen to get resolved is by closing out the game entirely

I remember running into this game on the 3Ds back when they had the whole Nintendo Eshop. I ended up buying this to see if my memory as a kid matches what I would feel about this game today… yep, still funny and still fun. The jokes and references are just rediculous kinda that slapstick humor on American Dad or Family guy. Just so many refrences and silliness while also maintaining a simple yet satisfying gameplay. My only critique is the game is rather short, and while they do have challenges around the world, most of them become repetitive and don’t really add anything of substance unless you’re a completionist. Besides that it’s a cute game with great humor but short. The world does have plenty of Easter eggs and challenges so if that suits your for sure it’s a grab, and if your just looking for a short great time, also a solid grab.
