User Reviews

Reviewers praise Foodie for its strong filters and color grading but widely condemn its shift to an ad-supported, subscription-heavy model that disrupts photo-taking and degrades performance. Many report crashes and lag, particularly in the camera mode, and pop-ups/forced trials hinder saving images. While editing features remain appealing, the paywall and intrusive ads have led many to uninstall or avoid the app.
Pros
  • Excellent color filters and editing tools that can enhance photos.
  • Long-standing favorite for years with strong editing capabilities.
  • Neat app with useful features that help food photos look better.
Cons
  • Ad-heavy experience with intrusive pop-ups, including ads that appear at launch and disrupts during use.
  • Subscription model with many paid filters and a high price, plus pushy upgrade prompts.
  • Performance problems like frequent crashes, lag, and camera mode appearing grainy or slow.
  • Inability to save photos due to pop-ups and forced trial prompts interrupting the capture process.
  • UI clutter from paid filters dominating the interface, making free options hard to find.

I really like this app, HOWEVER I dislike how it takes a few seconds to launch, where almost all of my other camera apps launch right away. Another thing I really hate is sometimes the app will either randomly take my photo at super low resolution and I don’t know till long after, or worse, decides not to save my photo! It’s happen at least 3 times! What’s worse is it didn’t tell me when I took the photo, it only gives me the “couldn’t save” message LONG AFTER I had turned the screen off and only discover later it didn’t take the photo! And those are just the ones I have noticed! I am pretty sure I have lost MANY photos to this app randomly deciding to not save! And I have a paid membership!!

At first, years ago, this app was really great. I used it for a long time when it still wasn’t very well known. But later, almost everything became paid, and it got filled with ads. Even getting high-quality image outputs required a subscription. So I stopped using it and eventually uninstalled it.

New update automatically has it crashing when I try to save an edited photo. Practically useless if I can’t save a photo.
