Recommended for preschoolers and new first graders — and for anyone who wants a gentle start with kanji.

Type characters on the board, then tap the play button to hear them read aloud. The controls are simple: tap to enter, tap to play, tap けす to erase.

The app includes 80 kanji from the Japanese grade 1 curriculum. Audio works for multi-character words, too — for example, enter 森 and hear "mori," or enter 森林 and hear "shinrin."

You can also change the display font in settings to match how children learn at school or at home.
