User Reviews

Run An Empire blends real-world movement with map-based empire-building to create an inviting outdoor-fitness game. Players praise the concept and its ability to motivate outdoor activity, but the experience is marred by monetization concerns, persistent bugs, location/privacy worries, and restrictive gameplay mechanics that slow progression.
Pros
  • Encourages outdoor activity (walking/running/biking) through gameplay.
  • Engaging, unique concept of conquering real-world locations on a map.
  • Entertaining and fun experience for players who enjoy fitness-themed games.
Cons
  • Heavy monetization with mandatory subscriptions and paywalls limiting core features.
  • Frequent bugs and performance issues (lags, progress not saving, coins disappearing, raid-related problems).
  • Location services requirement and privacy concerns, with some areas not playable.
  • Gameplay restrictions that hinder progress (inability to relocate cities, move buildings, see borders, or access certain tiles).
  • Grind-heavy progression with many quests and high XP/coin requirements.

I don’t know how to choose land because it won’t let me when I click on the thing

I started replaying this game and it’s fun. But I noticed it is not what it used to be. Building my specialized buildings on the map now it’s a city? I can’t even relocate the city since I moved to a different state. I do enjoy the regional districts making it a battle for the neighbor/town against other players but I just conquered my second neighborhood and I can’t even see the rankings in it or the borders. I need to subscribe to control more than one district which is ridiculous. This game isn’t subscription worthy. I understand we all got to make money but the limitations is what ruins this application for me. I’ll still use it for runs but now the motivation to take new districts isn’t there. This game hasn’t been updated since 2023 according to the App Store so is this game and review just dead air? I hope a new update comes out. There is great potential for this game. Review from 2020 5/5 This game is fun. I love the idea of taking over a map and by implementing physical activity it really made the game enjoyable!
