User Reviews

Galaga Wars delivers a nostalgic Galaga-style arcade shooter with addictive core gameplay and a satisfying upgrade path. Players can grind for ships and gear, enjoying pattern- and timing-based combat that can hook for hours. However, the experience is marred by intrusive, often buggy advertising, limited updates, and frequent stability issues. Many users report progress losses across devices and crashes during ads or gameplay. The game shines when ads cooperate and updates arrive, but these recurring issues hold it back from its full potential.
Pros
  • Classic Galaga-style arcade gameplay that fans find addictive
  • Satisfying progression through upgrading ships and gear
  • Engaging, pattern- and timing-based combat that stays challenging
  • Nostalgic visuals and vibe that capture the original Galaga feel
  • Long-lasting fun with strong replay value
Cons
  • Intrusive ads dominate the experience and are frequently buggy, with crashes or freezes during ads and many users cannot disable them
  • Lack of updates or new content for months; ships and features feel stagnant
  • Progress can be lost or reset across devices or after reinstall/login
  • Frequent stability issues, including crashes during gameplay and ad-watching
  • Some ad networks cause interruptions (e.g., redirects to the App Store) or stall rewards

This game pisses me off a little bit because the 4th boss if you don’t have any powerups is literally unbeatable. This is because while fighting it’ll drop a slow moving nuke that explodes the entire screen. There is literally no avoiding or dodging it unless you happen to kill the boss instantly before the nuke is dropped. Mainly you’ll have to upgrade weapon time so that when you grab a weapon before the battle it stays with u. It’s bs that a skill based game like this has a grindy/random component that halts progression. I’ve tried looking up any way to get past it besides cheesing the boss and there’s nothing.

I downloaded this hoping for a modern version of Galaga. Instead, I got a never-ending monetization machine. Every few minutes you’re forced to either watch long ads or spend in-game currency to continue. Then you’re immediately hit with more offers to buy coins, premium currency, coin doublers, and other microtransactions. It feels like the game exists to funnel you into spending money rather than simply letting you play. I wasn’t looking for a casino disguised as an arcade game. I wanted to pay once and enjoy a classic shooter offline. Instead, every death and every new sector is another interruption asking for my time or my wallet. If you enjoy constant monetization, this might be for you. If you’re looking for the simple “insert coin and play” spirit of the original Galaga, keep looking
