User Reviews

Jam Looper is praised for its simplicity and quick workflow: multi-track looping with separate volume controls, ideal for jotting ideas. The free version plus a cheap paid option make it accessible. It’s widely seen as intuitive and useful for songwriting. However, reliability suffers from frequent crashes and stability issues, cluttered by ads in the free tier. Latency when layering tracks and monitoring limitations complicate real-time recording. Some reviewers also note missing essential editing/export features. Overall, it’s easy and fun for ideas, but less dependable for serious work.
Pros
  • Easy to use and intuitive
  • Multi-track looping with independent volume controls
  • Free version plus affordable premium
  • Great for quickly capturing ideas and songwriting
  • No heavy tutorials; straightforward to start
Cons
  • Crashes and stability issues, including crashes on launch and after purchases
  • Frequent ads in the free version
  • Latency/lag when layering tracks and monitoring limitations (needs wired headphones)
  • Missing essential editing features (e.g., listen to original track before recording, track markers, moving/triming) and occasional export bugs

For a simple loop tool, this is an incredible app. Lay down multiple tracks with separate volume controls. Delete and add tracks. I love it!!!

Record the base track, then record another on top. Even though you’re recording on top of the base track in real time, the recorded second track is off by around 500ms. This compounds with additional track. It is necessary to trim each track to get everything synchronized, which is super inconvenient. Can’t complain too much because it’s a free app, but it doesn’t compare to a physical looper as there is some lag between tracks.

You do need a wired headphone if you’re going to lay down more than one track though - but it is so much easier than setting everything up to record a few tracks on my computer.
