User Reviews

Users praise ChordUp for its approachable design, fun playability, and a strong chord system. It allows quick exploration of 108 chords via swipes on multiple surfaces and MIDI output to external synths for live use. Recurrent concerns center on integration limits (no AUv3/host options in some cases), inconsistent MIDI out availability, and the desire to save custom chord layouts or per-song settings for easier workflows. Occasional bugs are also mentioned.
Pros
  • Very easy to use with simple, intuitive controls that invite experimentation.
  • MIDI out support enables sending chords to external synths/DAWs for live playing.
  • Rich chord library and fast, swipe-based chord selection across multiple playing surfaces.
  • Fun and expressive instrument/controller that feels like playing a live instrument.
Cons
  • Lack of AUv3 plug-in hosting or clear host integration (no AUv3/split-screen in some reviews).
  • MIDI OUT support appears inconsistent across versions (some reviews confirm, others report it as missing).
  • Inability to save custom chord layouts or per-song settings (common request among users).

I like the simplicity of controls and how easy is it experiment. I want to be able to choose a key that would change the chords (reorder and set to what makes sense in a particular key). So instead of dm etc I could see 1, 3 etc. “Contact support” in the app seems to be broken
