SBI Secure OTP is an OTP generation app for verifying or authenticating online banking transactions through SBI Internet Banking and the Yono SBI app. It lets customers generate Online OTPs using an internet connection, avoiding SMS-based OTP delivery.

Registration and setup involve INB credentials and SIM verification, followed by MPIN setup and a time-limited activation code delivered to your mobile (valid for 10 minutes). After activation in OnlineSBI, the OTP method switches from SMS to in-app Secure OTP for added security and convenience.

Overall, reviewers see SBI Secure OTP as helpful when it works: app-based OTP is fast and reduces or eliminates SMS OTP for logins and many transactions, even usable abroad. However, it is plagued by serious issues: registration/activation failures, especially for NRIs and non-India numbers; repeated reliability errors and server messages; partial functionality where some transfers still require SMS; poor iOS compatibility; and frustrating UX with session lockouts and frequent re-registrations. Real-world use is inconsistent, especially for international users.

Recent reviews

It is a shame for the nation that prides itself on Digital evolution to have a bank like SBI with a broken netbanking or app. I wish we will bankrupt SBI and throw their IT infrastructure in garbage, along with the morons who developed Yono site and secure otp app.
