User Reviews

Users praise Shapa for color-based, non-numeric feedback and motivational features that aid weight management, but recurring issues with connectivity, bugs, subscription changes, and customer support limit overall reliability.
Pros
  • Color-based feedback provides progress indicators without showing numeric weight, reducing stress.
  • Daily motivational messages and encouragement support consistency in weight management.
  • Helpful for weight management and habit formation over time.
  • Loyal, long-term user base with many positive testimonials.
  • Works in workplace wellness programs and with corporate incentive integration.
Cons
  • Frequent connectivity and compatibility issues with the scale and related apps, especially after updates and on newer iPhone models.
  • Bugs and reliability problems: hangs, slow loading, and features not functioning.
  • Subscription model creates access issues and charges; some users cannot use the scale without an active subscription.
  • Poor or unresponsive customer support.
  • Data integrity/health integration problems, including delayed color feedback, color mappings not reflecting actual weight, and frequent Apple Health permission prompts.

Terrible support and hardware. The scale constantly needs to be calibrated and bugs out leaving you with a paid membership you can’t use. Had a total of 4 scales now, same result of the scale being inoperable. Customer service to correct the situation is a joke.

I love the idea of this scale. But the kids of people who are drawn to this are also the same kind of people who are unlikely to respond well to a frowny face based on the number of times they weigh in per week. I don’t need or want motivation. I just want a simple numberless scale that lets me know if I am on the right track. I don’t need sad faces or moralistic language. But there does not seem to be a way to turn any of this off, and you have to use the app to see the colors. 🤷‍♀️

No complaints until I got the iPhone 17 in October. After that, I haven’t been able to connect to the scale. Customer service seemed to be helpful initially, but then told me that I would either need to use another way to connect (inconvenient), get a new scale (why would I spend the money when my current one was barely a year old and their support wasn’t supporting), or download IOS Beta (still didn’t resolve issue). Can’t recommend at this time.
