User Reviews

View Source is a free, easy-to-use tool for viewing website source code and integrates smoothly with Safari via the Share Sheet. Users praise its simplicity and usefulness for quick on-the-go viewing. The most common drawbacks are lack of robust copy/paste (especially selecting all), occasional crashes or reliability issues, and trouble loading pages behind authentication or with login. The built-in search is also seen as weak. Overall, it fills a useful niche but would benefit from improvements in copying, reliability, and authenticated-page handling.
Pros
  • Free
  • Does what it says: view page source, simple to use
  • Integrates with Safari/Share Sheet to load page source from Safari
  • Easy to install and understand with a clean UI
Cons
  • Cannot copy or select all the entire source; copy to clipboard is missing or broken
  • Occasional crashes / reliability issues
  • Pages behind authentication may not load or retrieve the actual page
  • Search feature is clunky or missing (cannot search within page)

As soon as I click on text the app crashes. The crash happens when I take my finger off the screen. It does show the pages nicely formatted with text highlighting. Suggestion: implement logic so a user can tap on an anchor to load that page. And fix the text selection bug.

Could you please add a 'select all' function, or a simple button like 'copy to clipboard', that copies the entire source to the clip board to be pasted elsewhere? Thanjs!

The app works well for exactly what it says - viewing the source from a website. In the app you can input a URL, but directly from the browser (Safari) you have a new “action” to open the page’s source.
