User Reviews

MedCalX is valued for saving time and offering a wide, easy-to-use set of calculations with good support and a smooth MedCalc migration. Recurring downsides include paywalls for features once free, gaps in essential scores, and issues with purchases/imports and support responsiveness. Overall, users appreciate the utility and breadth, but pricing, feature gaps, and upgrade/migration frustrations are common concerns.
Pros
  • Clinicians report it saves time and improves decision-making in busy settings (ER, ICU, anesthesia).
  • Broad, comprehensive set of medical calculations all in one easy-to-use app.
  • Strong ongoing updates and good support; smooth migration from MedCalc for many users.
  • Data/favorites can be migrated or transferred easily when upgrading.
  • Free unlock options (e.g., using a Doximity account) provide an entry path to premium content.
Cons
  • Paywalls lock many previously free calculations and scores behind premium access.
  • Missing many common scores/calculations and infrequent updates; not all critical formulas available.
  • Problems restoring or transferring previous purchases; support responsiveness inconsistent.
  • Perceived upgrade to MedCalX as a paid replacement for MedCalc is viewed by some as deceptive or expensive.
  • Some users report being charged without price visibility and feeling misled.

A GREAT pocket reference I've used daily for years but just now getting around to writing a review.

I have used this app for years. However, the ascvd risk calculator, which use to be free, now requires a premium account. This calculator is free in so many other apps. Will delete this app and use an alternative. I understand an app needs to make money, but provide an option with ads versus abruptly cutting off busy providers in the midst of their clinic without a heads up.
