User Reviews

Timelogger is praised for its comprehensive time-tracking features, robust reporting, and good Apple ecosystem support. Users repeatedly cite reliable core logging, and data export. However, recurring issues include iCloud-related data loss/duplication without a reliable backups, instability after updates, and concerns about pricing/subscription changes. Some users also find the UI confusing and request missing features like manual time entry, 15-minute intervals, and a Mac app. Overall sentiment blends strong functionality with meaningful reliability and business-model concerns.
Pros
  • Rich feature set for time tracking with detailed reporting, including grouping by projects/tasks and billing rates.
  • Easy core time logging (start/stop), with simple corrections and notes, and generally intuitive UX.
  • Data portability and ownership via iCloud sync and export options (CSV/PDF) to extract data.
  • Geofencing and location-based timing features that improve accuracy and reminders.
  • Strong Apple ecosystem support, including Apple Watch compatibility and well-optimized iPad experience.
Cons
  • iCloud sync can cause data loss/duplication and there is no reliable in-app backup/restore, risking records if something goes wrong.
  • App instability and crashes after updates or when upgrading.
  • Pricing and upgrade model changes (subscription/Plus) perceived as aggressive, with concerns over ongoing updates.
  • UI can be confusing or non-intuitive at times, with multi-step navigation and learning curve.
  • Missing features like manual time entry and 15-minute interval tracking (and a Mac companion), which limits workflows for some users.

The older app worked flawlessly and I really loved it. Used it religiously for work and came to rely on it heavily. Upgraded by accident to the new one and it wiped out everything I had setup and attempts to setup new tasks causes the app to crash. Haven’t even gotten to the point of trying to actually use it but I’m skeptical it is going to be stable. The old app was not broken so why mess with it? SMH

This app still does that bare minimum of what it’s supposed to do, but like most companies this one seems to have thought a subscription service was gonna work. I paid for this app just for them to stop updating it in favor of a “plus” version that stops getting regular updates a year later. Lol
