Review summary

Users largely praise Hammer Price as a centralized, easy-to-use source for live auction results and market trends, especially for remote monitoring. Many say it is the best or only place for data on major auctions, with comprehensive coverage and useful alerts. However, a large portion criticize the shift to paid pricing, arguing the costs and usage limits are excessive and make the app far less affordable for casual fans. Others report reliability problems (log-in issues, blank pages) and privacy concerns. Overall, the app is valued for data quality when it works, but the business model and stability issues deter frequent use.
Pros
  • Tracks live auction results from major houses, giving a centralized data source.
  • Easy to use and quick to learn, with data that is clearly presented.
  • Valuable reference tool with data dating back to 2015 and emails about results.
  • Great for remote monitoring of markets and trends.
  • Paid subscription is worth it for serious collectors due to comprehensive data.
Cons
  • Pricing is expensive and the paid subscription model is seen as excessive with high costs and limited value.
  • Usage limits and friction: very few searches allowed, limits per vehicle, and frequent login/reselect requirements.
  • Reliability issues: reports of login failures, blank pages, slow startups, and intermittent outages.
  • Security/privacy concerns: potential security risk and reports that the app collects data without clear disclosures.
  • UX/data gaps: inconsistent sort order, save settings, and incomplete feature sets in beta.

2026-01-15 Ta***** This app used to be great for checking live sales prices, as I go to auto auctions frequently. However, the new update blocks you from checking anything unless you pay hundreds of dollars. It only allows three clicks on any vehicle in the app, so if you accidentally tap 3 cars you can no longer use anything in the app. Absolutely awful update, never coming back again. Thanks RM Sotheby’s, corrupt company.

2025-08-18 Al***** Was a regular user of free version. Would pay for service if pricing made any sense. Regular paid tier is useless with such low limits on usage. Dealer price tier is necessary if you ever plan to use the app, but it is wildly too expensive for a car fan who uses this casually.

2025-08-17 So***** It’s always been a pain to find the latest results, especially if you’re only looking a specific makes. Developers didn’t really pay attention to minor details like sort order and saving prefs. Now dropping $5/month in us during Auction Week?? All I have to say is “Hey Google!”

2025-08-17 No***** I’ve been using this app for years. I only check in every so often but after this recent update, it’s time to let it go. $300 a year or $29.99 per month is just ridiculous.

2025-08-09 Ap***** $300/year for the same functionality that was free until a couple days ago? I can understand needing to charge people to use this, but unless you get the “Dealer/Analyst” subscription you get an absurdly small number of searches. Even the lower priced subscription has truly stupid limitations on its usage. I’m sure everyone is really excited that you guys pulled this new pricing scheme right before Monterey Car Week, which I’m sure is when your app is used the most out of the year. I do wonder how many people will actually pay for this, considering you guys have been covering fewer days of various auctions and now you think you should get paid an obscene amount of money for a service that actually delivers less than the free version provided.
