User Reviews

Users broadly praise Stash for being easy to use, beginner-friendly, and suitable for small, automatic investments—especially appealing for kids and family investing. They value the educational content and flexible options. However, recurring concerns include poor customer support, transfer/migration problems with missing funds and high ACATS fees, pricing changes and forced upgrades, and occasional reliability or availability issues (slow app performance and US-only access).
Pros
  • Easy to use and beginner-friendly onboarding
  • Invest with small amounts and automate deposits (micro-investing)
  • Educational features and incentives that boost investing knowledge
  • Suitable for kids and custodial accounts (family investing)
  • Flexible options (DIY investing or managed accounts) with broad access to stocks/ETFs and generally low fees
Cons
  • Poor customer support and difficulty withdrawing/closing accounts (ghosting, lack of communication)
  • Transfer/migration issues from Stockpile (ACATS fees, missing funds, unnotified account moves)
  • Pricing changes and forced upgrades / subscription model concerns
  • Reliability and availability issues (slow performance/crashes; US-only access limiting use from outside the US)
Recent reviews
Stash just changed my subscription from $3 a month to $12 a month without warning (they say they sent emails, but I have searched my inbox and cannot find any such emails), and refused to refund me for this month even though I canceled the same day as the fee was charged. I don’t want the financial advising they’re now including, so it’s just not worth it to me, and the way they increased the fee and refused a refund makes me distrust them. They need better communication at the very least, and most places will refund you if you ask, especially when you have a whole month of service that you’re not using.

I highly recommend not using this app or bank. They consistently lock you out without explanation and use language like “Account is under review’. Which makes absolutely no sense. Stay away if you are looking for a daily card to use as your money is not always available
