User Reviews

User feedback on the Basecamp iOS app is mixed but leans negative on reliability. The most common complaints are crashes, freezes, and overheating, plus sign-in issues (notably Google login). Many report missing or inconsistent push notifications and a mobile UX that feels clunky or lacks desktop parity. Media attachments and uploads are often flaky. Still, reviewers praise cross-device consistency, robust team collaboration, and the ability to keep teams aligned, with several noting it’s valuable despite mobile bugs.
Pros
  • Seamless, reliable experience across iPhone, iPad, and desktop with consistent data and features.
  • Strong team collaboration features including multiple chats and easy access to uploaded files.
  • Can boost team productivity and serve as a central hub for coordination (some teams prefer it over Slack).
  • Helpful UI options like dark mode improve usability on iOS.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes, freezes, and device overheating on iOS.
  • Login/sign-in issues, especially with Google accounts and occasional sign-in failures.
  • Mobile UX and feature parity lag behind the desktop—navigation is clunky and essential mobile features are missing.
  • Media upload and attachment problems—images/videos often fail to attach or preview reliably.
  • Inconsistent or excessive push notifications and overall notification reliability problems.

I’ve been a loyal and enthusiastic user since 2010. I literally would have HALF the business if it weren’t for Basecamp. BUT this new update (Basecamp 5) is… not good. Too many changes! I can’t find what I need! The Mac desktop app is now SO slow that I’m just using the browser interface. The iPad app doesn’t even open but doesn’t tell me it can’t run on my 5-year old iPad. The iPhone version is working, but I don’t like the GUI changes! Can I please go back to Basecamp 4 or Basecamp 2, please? (I do like that you ditched that horrible yellow logo, though!)

BC5 is a mess. It feels rushed. They moved things for no reason. Broke other things and claimed the new interface is better and more intuitive. It is not. I used to love Basecamp. Sad.

Ruined the app and website. Calendar is awful. File display is a mess.
