Players broadly praise Planes Control! for its addictive, challenging arcade-style play and nostalgic Flight Control feel, plus strong visuals and a variety of levels and difficulties. However, the experience is marred by intrusive ads, a tough difficulty curve, and flaky progress persistence (scores not saving, no resume feature). Occasional performance issues on certain devices and a cited zoom/UX limitation also appear. When ads and persistence issues are managed, it offers solid, nostalgic arcade fun.

Flight Control–style gameplay with a wide variety of levels and gimmicks that sustain long-term interest.
Nice visuals, art, and music with a polished presentation.
Multiple difficulty options (easy, hard, really hard) and content that can be accessed without paying to unlock everything.

Cons

Intrusive or frequent ads that disrupt gameplay and, in some cases, crash the game.
Difficulty can be too high even on easier modes, with many planes/birds making management frustrating.
High scores or progress often don’t persist between sessions (scores not saving/updating).
No resume/continue feature after exiting the app, leading to lost progress.
Occasional device-specific issues (e.g., freezes on some iPhones) and UI/UX drawbacks like zoom level limitations.

Recent reviews

I’ve unlocked the entire series and absolutely love this game. Some levels are more challenging to get into a rhythm than others, but some levels I could probably play hours for if I could keep focused that long. I don’t know how easier or difficult this would be to implement, but if there was a way to have time dilation option of 1.5 speed, that would be appreciated . Sometimes, 1 feels too slow, but 2is just too frenetic. I’m also grateful for the option of a one time purchase to remove ads. I did this very quickly, and appreciate a one time purchase rather than a subscription.

I do love this game, but ads and the tornado was in the runway and I tell the plane to go. It goes a different way even when I’m not doing anything to tell it to move a different way.
