User Reviews

Pressed For Words is praised as a fun, addictive, easy-to-learn word game that keeps players coming back. However, reviews repeatedly flag excessive ads and a desire for an ad-free version, plus frequent stability issues after updates—crashes, freezes, or the game not opening. Dictionary quality is another concern, with many words being archaic, non-real, or not recognized. Some ads also show malware-like warnings or inappropriate content. A few players also want more time per round or adjustable pacing. Overall, engaging but dragged down by ads, performance problems, and word-list shortcomings.
Pros
  • Fun, addictive puzzle that keeps players coming back.
  • Long-term appeal; players have been playing for years and find it easy to pick up.
  • Easy-to-learn, casual word game that serves as a quick pick-up-and-play experience.
Cons
  • Excessive ads interrupt gameplay; many reviewers want an ad-free version.
  • Frequent stability issues after updates: crashes, freezes, or the game failing to open.
  • Dictionary/word list quality concerns: many words feel archaic, non-real, or not recognized.
  • Ads sometimes show malware-like warnings or inappropriate content.
  • Time per round is too short; players want more time or adjustable pacing.

I used to love this game, I hate the updates they made in May 2026. Game is way too slow to play now , I will uninstall it after this review and search for another game. The rolling over of letters takes forever and is annoying, the constant pop up reminders if I type too fast , instead of just letting me play. The button to close & start another game is gone, you have to now go through the settings, no thanks! Do not like anything about this new version of the game.

I LOVED this game. I have been playing it for more than a decade. The update that was installed yesterday has removed the button that lets you end a game without having to wait for the timer to run out. What was the point of removing it? Sometimes I will be super stuck on a game and it was nice to quickly end it so I could see which words I missed and then start another game. Now I have to wait for the timer to run all the way down before it’ll let me start a new one? This game was super outdated but that genuinely what I ENJOYED about it. So many word games make you wait while coins stack, scorecards get boosted, cards flip over to reveal their other side, etc… I liked that this one you could just PLAY and PLAY and there was nothing to interrupt it in between each set. My dad used to say “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” There was nothing wrong with this game but the app developers felt the need to tinker with it anyway. I’m probably going to uninstall it now. Taking away that simple control didn’t improve a single thing on the dev end, as far as I can tell. And it wrecked the user experience for me entirely.
