Features & Capabilities

PGP Everywhere provides browser-based OpenPGP encryption with two integration modes: a text-entry keyboard extension for secure input and a file-action extension for encrypting and decrypting files within any site. It supports generating RSA key pairs, interacting with key servers, signing public keys, and multi-language support. The project is open source and relies on a robust OpenPGP implementation, including secure import/export of keys for seamless collaboration and privacy in your daily browsing.

Key features include flexible key management, cross-site encryption, and open-source transparency, making it easy to use PGP encryption alongside the browser tools you already rely on.

User Reviews

Overall, users praise the app’s ease of use, keyboard integration across apps (including Outlook) and the responsive dev team. However, recurring issues limit reliability: the keyboard feature is unreliable or not visible in all apps, ECC/Curve25519 keys aren’t supported, key import and management often fail, the app crashes or loses keys, and there are concerns about infrequent updates. The product remains appealing for mobile PGP use but its core functionality and maintenance need significant improvement.
Pros
  • Easy to use and intuitive with a keyboard integration that makes PGP usable in notes and across apps.
  • Tight app integration, including Outlook, making it easier to send encrypted emails.
  • Active, responsive development team with ongoing improvements and receptiveness to feedback.
  • Provides encryption within messaging contexts, simplifying mobile PGP usage.
Cons
  • Keyboard encryption/decryption is unreliable or not visible in all apps (e.g., iOS 26, onion browser).
  • Lack of ECC/Curve25519 key support, limiting compatibility with modern keys.
  • Key import/manage problems: cannot add/import private keys, clipboard-based import often fails, and keys aren’t recognized.
  • Stability issues: crashes when searching key servers and decryption errors; keys can disappear after restart.
  • Perceived lack of updates/support and use of older PGP versions.

The option to decrypt or encrypt from the keyboard in “any app” doesn’t work on iOS 26 at all. Doesn’t even show up.

Just wasted $5 on an app that doesn't work. It is useless to me because it cannot import ECC keys generated by Open keychain on Android.

It seems that you can import a public key but it will not allow a private key unless there is a glitch in the app?
