Features & Capabilities

REQUIRES THE PEAK FLOWMETER SMART ONE ™ MIR SMART ONE is a revolutionary app - integrated with Apple’s app Healt- that communicates via Bluetooth Low Energy with a Peak Flowmeter (SMART ONE ™) for self-care respiratory management. The SMART ONE system (app + device) measures FEV1 and PEF using the same exact technology currently used in the most advanced pulmonary labs worldwide. The app makes the device start the PEAK FLOW and FEV1 measurement. FUNCTIONALITIES During the test, the measurements are transferred in real time from the device to the smartphone. An intuitive animation helps the user to perform the test at best. The app compares the parameter measured by the device with the target value set during configuration, displaying a traffic light health indicator (green, yellow or red) that makes it easy to interpret the test result. The test results are automatically stored on the smartphone and can be displayed later. For each test the user can add useful information such as symptoms, with the severity grade, and notes. NOTE that the personal data of the user (Date of birth, Height, Weight, Gender and Population Origin) are requested by the app for the sole and exclusive purpose of the calculation of Peak flow and FEV1 target values. SHARING With one tap the user can create and attach a pdf to an e-mail, ready to be sent to anyone is monitoring his health condition. The user can also select the time interval to be exported into the pdf. INTEGRATION WITH THE APPLE'S APP HEALTH the app SMART ONE is integrated with the Apple's app "Health". The personal and the health data sharing is performed under the apple's guidelines in order to protect the user privacy The user can give or deny to SMART ONE the permission to read from "Health" and/or write to "Health" each single type of data. SMART ONE can write to "Health" the following data (Peak Expiratory Flow Rate, Forced Expiratory Volume 1sec, Height, Weight) SMART ONE can read from "Health" the following data (Date of Birth, Sex, Height, Weight, Peak Expiratory Flow Rate, Forced Expiratory Volume 1sec). After the user permissions, the data sharing happens fully automatically, without any user specific action

User Reviews

User reviews show reliability problems: crashes and freezes prevent recording readings; history may not save or contain erroneous data; connectivity can break after updates; data views are limited (FEV1 not shown, only best peak flow); plus QA/support concerns with unaddressed bug reports.
Pros
  • Easy to use and quick to operate.
  • When it connects, it captures peak flow data quickly and logs readings.
  • Works as described and provides straightforward data collection.
Cons
  • Frequent crashes and freezes during tests; readings often not recorded.
  • History/recorded data can be lost or corrupted; erroneous values; limited data exports.
  • Connectivity disrupted after updates; devices fail to connect or measure.
  • Limited data views and reporting (only best peak flow shown; FEV1 not easily accessible; rest times not adjustable).
  • Support/QA issues; bug reports not accepted and slow/no responses.

wont show you your accurate % to goal on your blows half the time and then doesn’t show them at all on the results screen. Very jank app. Guys this can be fixed in a weekend with a programmer and ai.

I’ve been using the SmartOne since September, with no issues, then with the recent app update (Feb.2025) it fails to connect to the device, after much research and finally learning from my post-op coordinator “there is a “FixSpiro” app to correct the issue”… removing and replaced app x3, etc. well, that doesn’t work, no solution, even trying on 2 different phones with latest iOS. Now unable to measure and track my spirometry ☹️. Was a great tool, now useless. Software dev team needs better QA and testing before releasing updates, then putting out a “fix” unannounced on the primary app, that also does not address the known issue. Now what do users do??

Used this a a year+, then it decided to stop saving results in history. Suspect this has something to do with Apple health and iCloud.
