User Reviews

FlashAcademy offers a rich, multi-modal language learning experience with many languages, offline use, and engaging, game-like features, plus pronunciation feedback and a premium tier. However, users frequently report stability problems (crashes, loading delays), challenging subscription management, slow support, and speech/audio glitches. Some content remains under development. Overall, strong pedagogy and breadth are tempered by reliability and support shortcomings.
Pros
  • Multi-modal learning approach with reading, writing, speaking, listening, plus flashcards and games that reinforce repetition.
  • Pronunciation practice with feedback and scoring to gauge fluency.
  • Wide range of languages and content, with offline availability for use without constant internet.
  • Engaging, gamified learning experience with checkpoints and positive prompts that help motivation.
  • Valuable premium features and pricing perceived as worthwhile for learners.
Cons
  • Frequent stability issues: crashes, freezes, and long loading screens hinder usage.
  • Subscription and payment friction: activation problems, difficulty canceling, and issues with unlocking content or refunds.
  • Slow or unresponsive customer support and refunds handling.
  • Speech recognition and audio issues: misrecognised phrases, wrong audio playback, and timing/volume problems.
  • Some languages/content are unfinished or still in development, reducing overall usability.

I was quite interested in the aspect that I can take pictures of items and it will translate them for me into my desired language, as this is my learning style. I downloaded the app, made an account and filled out the needed info. But after scanning all the items I can without paying (it was somewhere between 5-10) I honestly just gave up. None of them were correct or even close. First I scanned a pen in my hand and the app told me it was a computer on a desk. Then I scanned a memory card and the app told me it was a close up of a computer. I scanned a heater. Once again it told me it was a computer on a desk. This heater was on the floor… So I tried scanning something with nothing else in the picture. Maybe it was incredibly picky. I scanned my closed book on the ground. It told me it was text. While it isn’t wrong that isn’t what I am looking for. A pair of shoes was a close up of a rug. I’m honestly just curious as to what it will make each item at this point and if I will ever find something the app actually will know, but not curious enough to actually continue to use this app. Great idea, if it actually worked. But why would I pay when this is what I experienced?

I loved this app, but it should be similar to 100% that I spoke Arabic that I learned English, but actually, I have no idea this is similar to Duolingo, FunEasyLearn, and everything I don’t understand this is so hard about that, but maybe it can be so good if I know about that.
