Born in the heart of the State University of Northern Rio de Janeiro Darcy Ribeiro, UENF Radio is the first public radio station in the interior of the State of Rio de Janeiro. A result of a partnership with Empresa Brasil de Comunicação, through the National Public Communication Network, the station's mission is to democratize access to information, value scientific production, and strengthen dialogue with the community.

Since 2021, the radio station has been building a plural, educational, and participatory environment. Broadcasting on the 87.1 FM frequency, it expands its reach and brings content integrating science, culture, innovation, and citizenship to Campos dos Goytacazes and neighboring municipalities.
