Extension summary

Many blogs and articles add reference links to Research Papers (like Arxiv Preprints). This extension allows you to quickly view their Abstracts in the same page.

By previewing any linked references in any WebPage, it greats simplifies the reading experience on the web for research articles. Instead of opening papers in multiple tabs just to read the abstract, you can read the abstract right in the website linking the paper.

This works seamlessly on independent blogs, websites and also on popular platforms like Distill, Medium, Arxiv-Vanity, MadeWithML.

AbstractAnywhere doesn't scan your webpage without your permission. To show abstracts on the webpage, click on the extension and click "Fetch Arxiv Abstracts". All Arxiv abstracts on the page are found and they are highlighted in Yellow. Hovering over any of these links shows you it abstract.

User reviews

This is a very useful extension to quickly browse through research papers on the Google Scholar page. Here some suggestions for improving it further: 1) Allow auto-fetch of abstracts without clicking 2) Google scholar might show pdf links from different source than arXiv, and in that case abstracts cannot be fetched. It would be helpful for the extension to automatically explore the link "All n versions" and check whether an arXiv version of the same paper exists. If an arXiv copy exists, then its abstract should be shown, even if the pdf link belongs to a different source. 3) Support abstract preview for other websites (for example Physical Review) on Google Scholar page. 4) Support LaTeX preview of formulas for title and abstract.
