Just what I was looking for! And doesn't ask for any strange permissions. Shows me the date, all the time (remember to "pin" the extension), and the pop-up when you click it is very capable, allowing the week to start Sunday or Monday and even show national holidays (you choose the nation). While Gmail's own calendar page does show the date in the tab, which uses about the same amount of real estate, the problem is that not every open window is going to have the calendar tab, and this extension bridges that minor but surprisingly relevant gap.

Hey guys, the app as such is nice. I have chosen a dark theme in my Chrome and because of that, it is not possible to read the date in the toolbar. Black on black ;)
