User Reviews

Users praise Linux Basics for its beginner-friendly, engaging, and visually clear approach to teaching Linux commands, making learning fun and effective without ads. Its storytelling and interactive puzzles help demystify complex concepts. However, multiple users desire more comprehensive and advanced content. Some report bugs causing the app to freeze and question the need for internet access. The space-themed abstraction is confusing for some experienced users. Overall, the app is an excellent starting point for Linux novices but would benefit from expanded lessons and technical refinements.
Pros
  • Great for beginners to learn Linux with clear explanations and visual aids.
  • Engaging and fun interactive approach with storytelling and gamification.
  • Ad-free and easy to use, providing educational content in an enjoyable format.
  • Solid introduction that demystifies Linux commands and concepts effectively.
  • Effective for accelerating learning and improving understanding of basic Linux navigation and commands.
Cons
  • Limited content and lessons, leading to a desire for more advanced levels and broader Linux topics.
  • Some bugs reported, such as app freezes during certain lessons (e.g., 'mv' lesson).
  • Requires internet access, which some users find unnecessary for an offline learning app.
  • Confusing abstraction with space-themed metaphors for some users, especially those with practical Linux experience.
  • Lacks challenging or advanced content; some users find it more like a puzzle game than practical command practice.

The only way . I have been poking around the terminal for ages . I knew basic stuff , but I didn't comprehend what I was doing before this . APIs and command at a kernal level are becoming preferred. The very first lesson I learned something with pwd command I didn't know . I was hooked from there .
