Hide Gemini and Google AI Firefox

Hide Gemini and Google AI

Hides AI-generated elements from Google properties, like search results, Google Drive, and more.

Features & Capabilities

Hide Gemini and Google AI removes Gemini and other generative AI elements from Google properties (Search, Drive, Docs, and more). It hides most AI buttons and search summaries using CSS-only rules for privacy and compatibility, so nothing is sent off-device and the extension stays lightweight and simple. Ideal for users who prefer a cleaner, less AI-driven Google interface.

Note that this approach has known limitations: some one-time promotions and certain buttons embedded in the Google Docs canvas (like “Help me write” when creating a new doc) may not be hidden. The extension is actively maintained and feedback is welcome to improve coverage and accuracy.

User Reviews

Most reviews praise the add-on for blocking Gemini/Google AI in Google search (including removing the AI mode button) and for reducing AI distractions, with some positive notes about Drive. However, Gmail support is inconsistent, and Gemini popups/buttons can remain visible on some surfaces. Behavior varies by app, and updates are sometimes needed after Google changes. Some users also mention alternatives like GemiNope if it fails to block Gemini in their setup.
Pros
  • Blocks Gemini/Google AI features in Google search results (removes the AI mode button and hides AI overviews).
  • Improves Google Drive usage by hiding Gemini/AI elements there.
  • Reduces AI-related distractions on at least some surfaces (noted by users as a generally helpful blocker).
  • The extension is recognized as an active attempt to adapt to Google changes (updates/responses from the developer are mentioned).
Cons
  • Not working in Gmail (Gemini/Gemini popup not hidden or still visible).
  • Gemini button/popup is not consistently hidden across all Google apps (visibility varies by surface).
  • Inconsistent behavior across Google apps (works in search but reliability is mixed on Drive/Gmail).
  • Occasional breakages when Google changes Gemini; some users may need to wait for updates or switch to alternatives (e.g., GemiNope).

it's okay but it usually hides things that aren't gemini that im looking for when im searching on google like locations and non-gemini answers to my questions

Have no long time experience with this but it works with Firefox 149. Many Thanks. Before I was using "Hide Google AI Overviews" from Zbarnz. It worked for a while but then of all sudden not.
