In my family it does; the question “do I have an internet connection ?” or in short “am I connected” is asked frequently.
The solution: a simple, free, add-free app for ourself and for you, to answer that question.
That's “Am I connected”.
We think you'll enjoy it as much as we do!

New in february 2019:
If you see a when you are WiFi connected, be sure that you have given the correct rights to the app.
When you are running version 9 of Android, this app needs to have 'location' permissions to show the name of the Wifi (the so called SSID).
This is a change made by Android from version 8 to version 9 (see https://developer.android.com/about/versions/pie/android-9.0-changes-all section 'Restricted access to Wi-Fi location and connection information').

So the 'ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION' is new in the release in february 2019, and you also have to set 'location services' to be enabled.

If you are an existing user who has this problem, you also have to go Settings > Apps > Am I Connected > Permissions and allow 'location'.

does EXACTLY what i want! For it to simply let me know if i am connected to wifi as many times my wifi says i am connected when i am not because password page didnt come up. so this app i needed. thx.

This is a most excellent app, with no unnecessary fat or complexity. With so many ways to connect these days -- personal WiFi, Comcast traveling hotspot, WiFi tether, bluetooth tether, G3, G4, and LTE cellular networks -- (and every one of them can fail, fail-over, or fallback), it's good to know how and if you're connected -- especially when tech support asks, and you need a quick answer.
