Recent apps not showing

apparently, android 17 broke something on my pixel 7 and now I cannot set up google widgets (calendar, weather) within smart launcher. widget selection is reduced and I get note "Some built in widgets may not be available for third party launchers because of some limitations imposed by the manufacturers". EDIT: google app just got updated, weather widget is back. I'll wait couple more days so all apps get updates...
