The only extension that works now if you just want ads to be silent, as far as I tested. The skipping function doesn't work but I actually didn't want it to. It doesn't hide ads or anything. Just silence... And if you want to turn on the volume for an ad, you can just mute and unmute while the ad is running. Surprising how it works after 5 years. Occasionally it doesn't work though. I guess it requires Chrome to be on the top, or tab to be open. IDK.
