To automatically open files on click, you need to set Chrome as the default for opening these kinds of files. To do that on Windows, the first time you use Right-click on the file>Open with and select Chrome from the list of suggested programs (or browse the file explorer to C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application and select chrome.exe in case it's not suggested). It's not too obvious if you're not familiar with computers, but it's not complicated. The name is a bit misleading, you can't *edit* files, at least not permanently without saving it to Drive. But for me that's not an issue, it's what I was looking for actually. I didn't want to upload a file to Drive just to be able to see it and then have to delete it or have a huge list of temporary files on my Drive. To me this extensions solves that issue + makes it easier to open the files on click. And if I do want to edit and work on a file, I can simply save it to Drive to continue. |
