Sègbé — African Languages

By: AMOK TECH App
Learn Fon and Mina with real voices from native speakers.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Learn Fon (Fongbe) and Mina — the languages of Benin and Togo — with real native-speaker voices. Sègbé is the free app to learn, transmit and preserve the languages of West Africa.

A SESSION EVERY DAY
• Daily Session: a guided 5-minute review (spaced repetition), with reminders and a streak to keep — the best way to lock in what you learn.
• Interactive lessons, essential vocabulary, pronunciation carried by referent speakers' voices. Available today: Fon and Mina (Ewe, Adja-gbe, Wolof on the way).

LEND YOUR VOICE — AND GET REWARDED
Native speaker? Record words, proverbs, stories: each clip enriches an open corpus, and you are paid for your contribution (up to 3,000 FCFA/hr). Track your earnings and payments right in the app.

WHY SÈGBÉ
Today, neither Siri, Alexa nor Google Assistant understand Fon, Mina or the other languages of the gbe continuum (over 13 million speakers in Benin, Togo, Ghana, Nigeria and the diaspora). AI models are trained mostly on English, French, Mandarin. Sègbé flips the equation by building, from its users' voices, the corpora that will let these languages exist in the digital world.

WHO IT IS FOR
The diaspora reconnecting with their original language, younger generations who want to pass it on, native speakers, teachers and researchers, curious learners. Designed for elders as much as young people: large buttons, clear text, step by step.

PRIVACY AND RESPECT
• Granular consent, scope by scope (internal corpus, research, open data, learner mode, AI training — 5 distinct, changeable decisions).
• No ads, no trackers, no intrusive analytics.
• Your recordings are stored in Europe (Paris servers), encrypted at rest and in transit.
• No speaker recognition, ever.
• Account deletion within 24h (GDPR Art. 17), full JSON export (Art. 20).

ROADMAP
Coming soon: Ewe, full Adja-gbe, Wolof, Mandinka, Mandjak, Yoruba, Dioula, Bambara, Lingala, Malagasy, and beyond. The list follows the community.
