Spipoll

Spipoll is a participatory science Chrome extension that invites everyone to contribute to the Photographic Monitoring of Pollinating Insects project. Supported by the National Museum of Natural History and the Office for Insects and their Environment, this app enables users to capture and document pollinating insects in their environment through a 20-minute guided photo safari near their home. Simply select a flowering plant, follow the app instructions to photograph, then crop, identify, and upload your observations to contribute to a large-scale scientific initiative. By creating an account at www.spipoll.org, users can also participate in community activities such as commenting and validating insect identifications. Spipoll empowers citizen scientists to support biodiversity research and promote insect conservation from their own smartphones.
