FoxyProxy Standard Firefox

FoxyProxy Standard

FoxyProxy is an open-source, advanced proxy management tool that completely replaces Firefox's limited proxying capabilities. No paid accounts are necessary; bring your own proxies or buy from any vendor. The original proxy tool, since 2006.

Features & Capabilities

FoxyProxy Standard is a powerful open-source Chrome extension that enhances your proxy management capabilities far beyond the default browser options. Since 2006, it has enabled users to switch proxies effortlessly via a simple point-and-click interface, URL pattern matching, individual browser tab assignment, and Firefox container integration.

Users can customize the interface with colors and country flags, import/export proxy settings, and quickly add URLs for proxying. Additional features include keyboard shortcuts, WebRTC control for privacy, detailed logging, and a built-in pattern tester. FoxyProxy supports multiple proxies without requiring any paid accounts—bring your own or purchase from any vendor. Its permissions ensure smooth proxy authentication and management without remote code execution. Trusted and continuously developed by the original creators, FoxyProxy provides a robust, privacy-focused proxy solution for Chrome users.

User Reviews

User reviews are mixed. The main downsides are performance slowdowns even with no proxy and usability bugs (non-responsive UI, persistent broken config after uninstall). There are some positive notes: Cloudflare tunnel functionality can work well for routing, and the log feature is valued. Occasional SOCKS5 compatibility issues and requests for better Chinese localization are also mentioned. Overall, reliability and performance appear to be the primary concerns, with limited consistently strong positives.
Pros
  • Cloudflare tunnel support works well for routing traffic
  • The log feature is useful for tracking proxy activity
  • Some reviewers described it as OK/Good and usable
Cons
  • Significant performance slowdown; browser and device can be slowed even when no proxy is active
  • Hard to use and buggy; intermittent UI issues; uninstall can leave broken config and there is no reset button
  • Incompatibility with OpenSSH SOCKS5
  • Localization/Chinese language support could be improved
