Focus Blade

Your AI-powered productivity companion

Features & Capabilities

Focus Blade - AI-powered productivity for fewer distractions Stay on task with Focus Blade, an unobtrusive Chrome extension that helps you reclaim focus, manage distractions, and build better work habits. Designed for knowledge workers, students, and anyone who wants to reduce wasted time online, Focus Blade gently interrupts distracting browsing with contextual alerts, optional full-page “eradicator” panels for social feeds, and lightweight timers so you can pause or return to work with intention.

Key features

Smart distraction alerts: Detects visits to social and blocked sites and shows a clear, actionable alert with options to take a short break, close the tab, or start a distraction timer. Eradicator panels: Focus Blade replaces distracting social media feeds with a calm, full-page panel. This feature works on most popular social networking sites, helping you stay focused while preserving the page structure for essential tools. Global distraction timer: Start timers that apply across all open tabs and devices (via extension storage), preventing repeated alerts while you take a planned break. Custom blocked sites: Add your own domains to the blocked list so Focus Blade protects you from the sites that derail your work. Work-hours & break windows: Configure working hours and scheduled break times so alerts respect your daily rhythm; when “Kill Distractions all the time” is enabled, alerts appear during all hours except break windows. Lightweight sidebar & task context: See today’s tasks and quick links inside the optional sidebar to refocus on meaningful work without leaving the browser. Graceful fallbacks: If the React sidebar isn’t available, Focus Blade uses an unobtrusive in-page modal or native alert so notifications still reach you. How it works Focus Blade operates through content scripts and a background service worker. When you visit a site on your blocked list or a supported social media platform, the extension checks your current settings (focus mode, break schedule, allowed URLs, and active timers). If conditions match, it shows a friendly alert with actionable choices and helpful copy. For supported social feeds, the eradicator panel can hide the feed and display a motivating message instead of a modal, giving you a calm, distraction-free experience.

Privacy & permissions Focus Blade only requests the permissions it needs: tab access to detect site visits, storage to persist your settings and timers, and optional identity integration for syncing. We do not collect or transmit browsing content. All settings (blocked sites, timers, profiles) are stored locally in your browser unless you choose to sign in and sync.

Why users love it

Reduces time wasted on social feeds with gentle but effective nudges. Makes taking intentional breaks simple using built-in timers. Respects your schedule — you control when alerts are active. Minimal UI that doesn’t interfere with browsing when not needed. Get started Install Focus Blade and open the profile panel to configure your blocked sites, set work hours and break times, and enable eradication for the social feeds you want to tame. Want a suggestion for a custom block list? Try the pre-configured distraction list as a starting point and tailor it to your workflow.

Support & feedback Have a feature request or a bug to report? Open the sidebar and use the feedback link, or visit the project README for contact details. We welcome suggestions and aim to iterate quickly.

Is Focus Blade Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Focus Blade requires a lot of sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.
