The Fluent Immigrant turns YouTube, Netflix and Prime Video subtitles into interactive English lessons for Portuguese and Spanish speakers.

Click any word in the subtitle to see its meaning, hear it, and save it to your vocabulary. Every saved word becomes a flashcard with spaced repetition, so what you learn while watching actually sticks. Dual subtitles (English plus your language) are one click away.

You already watch a lot of English. YouTube at lunch, Netflix at night. Almost none of it sticks, because you never do anything with the words. This extension is where you do something with them.

• Click any English word for a short explanation in Portuguese or Spanish
• Hear the word spoken and read real example sentences
• Karaoke subtitles: the full sentence on screen, each word lighting up as it is said (YouTube and Prime Video)
• Hover the subtitle and the video pauses for you

Every word in the subtitle is coloured by how well you know it:

• White: new word
• Green: you recognise it when you hear it
• Orange: it is yours, it comes out without thinking

🌍 Dual subtitles, when you want them

• The translated line in Portuguese or Spanish, under the English original
• Hidden by default. Turn it on for the hard parts, off for the rest
• Watching something in Portuguese or Spanish? It flips around, and the English becomes the clickable line

• Words you mark go straight into your Fluent Immigrant vocabulary
• Flashcards are written from the words you actually met, not a list somebody else picked
• Spaced repetition brings them back until they stick
• Your progress counts the words, so you can see the finish line

• Only the subtitles of the video you are watching
• Only on youtube.com, netflix.com, primevideo.com and Amazon's video pages. Never on the Amazon shop
• No browsing history. On YouTube, only the videos you save or finish go to your account
