Take back control of the audio experience with Mute All Tabs. This feature automatically mutes any audio from playing while browsing the web.

Default setup:

Mute/Unmute current tab - Alt + Shift + M
Mute all except current one - Alt+Shift+N
Mute/Unmute all tabs - Alt + Shift + Comma

Keybindings can be edited through the "Keyboard Shortcut" menu at the bottom right in the Chrome extension settings.

This didn't do what I needed: I have two browser sessions open, each with multiple tabs. When used, I want to mute all tabs on the browser session where I activate the mute - and ONLY that session - not all open instances of Chrome. This extension mutes all tabs on all instances of Chrome so I will remove until I find something better.

An extension that actually works for this! My only complaint is that I wish the icon was a little clearer, the difference between muted and not-muted is very subtle, a little color, and more contrast in general, would be nice.
