UPDATE:

The official Toggl gadget, which is toggl.com/mobile-gadget.xml doesn't work any more in Gmail. As a workaround, please add the gadget by this url: http://rmanasyan.github.io/toggl_gmail/toggl-gadget.xml

Once again, this is not an official extension, and may break in the future if Toggl team drops it completely.

It does work, but there are two steps: 1) add the extenstion 2) enable gadget by URL (a lab) and paste in the link shown in the Overview tab description: http://rmanasyan.github.io/toggl_gmail/toggl-gadget.xml 4 stars as it is pretty 'squishy' - it'd be nice if fonts could be sized smaller
