Fisustaja

Fisustaja shows on a map where Finland's most promising rivers and streams are – and whether it's worth heading out right now.

The app scores every river and stream in Finland (over 42,000 waterways) based on open geospatial data. The score combines four things anglers care about:

• Migratory fish waters – the authorities' assessment of where salmonids move
• Rapids – mapped rapids and fast-flowing stretches
• River size – based on catchment area; wadeable rivers score best, not huge main channels or tiny brooks
• Ecological status of waters – healthy waters correlate with good trout streams

Results appear on the map in traffic-light colors: green is promising, yellow moderate, red poor. Tap a waterway to see the score breakdown.

FLOW AND TIMING

Flow rate determines whether a rapid is fishable. Fisustaja shows the latest flow reading from SYKE's monitoring stations, tells you whether flow is rising or falling, and draws a 60-day history graph.

FISHING RESTRICTIONS

Restricted areas appear on the map as their own layer – tap an area to see which restriction applies and when. Please note: the data comes from open datasets published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the ELY Centres. It is not legally binding and does not include private-water rules. Always verify current restrictions and permits at kalastusrajoitus.fi and eraluvat.fi.

PRIVACY

No user account, no ads, no analytics. Your location is used only to center the map and is never sent anywhere. Notes stay on your device.

DATA SOURCES

The app is built on open data: the Finnish Environment Institute SYKE (waterway network, water status, flow and temperature, CC BY 4.0), the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the ELY Centres (fishing restrictions), Sensor Monitor Oy and sensor owners such as Metsähallitus and fishing associations (rapid water temperatures), and OpenStreetMap contributors (base map and rapids). Fishing spot scores are the app's own computed estimate and do not guarantee a catch or a fishing right.
