Overall, users find favicon-customizer useful for making tabs easier to identify by replacing the tab icons. It seems especially valued for pinned tabs and for sites with many open tabs; some users also note it works for general tab icons on any site. However, the extension struggles with bookmarks: changes aren't reliably saved for bookmarks and can revert, and bookmark icons may not reflect the custom favicon. There are cross-platform and version issues (MacOS, Firefox updates) and reliability concerns about the icon applying only when the tab is active. Documentation is also lacking.

Stopped working after FF updated to 147.0.1 (win11). Traced it to icon size - 20kb works ok, 250kb now fails, worked before. I wonder what the cutoff size is.

Works perfectly for my use case: needing a few of my pinned tabs to be more recognizable. Note that the logo needs to stay square in shape, otherwise it will be stretched.
