Prana

Prana (Promoting Regenerative And No-burn Agriculture) is a transformative project led by The Nature Conservancy focused on eliminating crop residue burning in Punjab, India. Targeting 250,000 farmers and one million hectares of farmland, Prana aims to prevent six million tonnes of CO2e emissions and conserve 500 billion liters of water.

Prana promotes sustainable farming by building farmer knowledge, reducing risks of no-burn solutions adoption, improving access to crop residue management technologies, and fostering new income streams linked to environmental benefits. The initiative supports machinery like the Happy Seeder, Super Seeder, and PUSA Decomposer, encouraging rental business models to make technology affordable for small farmers. Partnering with government bodies, Prana advances policy advocacy and ecosystem-friendly practices to phase out traditional stubble burning methods.

Through education, technology demonstration, and community engagement, Prana envisions a future of regenerative agriculture that protects air quality, conserves resources, and sustains farmer livelihoods.
