f*ckwebp Firefox

f*ckwebp

Automatically converts WebP images to PNG when you save or copy them. No more WebP bull.

Features & Capabilities

WebP is a image format that your browser loves and you probably hate. It looks fine on screen, but the moment you try to save or copy an image, you end up with a .webp file that half your apps don't support, your photo editor won't open, and your file manager renders as a broken thumbnail. f*ckwebp fixes this silently and automatically. No extra buttons, no new right-click menu items to remember — it just intercepts WebP images at the point you already interact with them and converts them to PNG on the fly. Save Image As works exactly as you'd expect — right-click any image, hit Save, and what lands in your downloads folder is a proper .png file, not a .webp. The conversion happens in the background before the file ever touches your disk. Copy Image is the same story. Right-click, Copy Image, and what goes to your clipboard is a real PNG — ready to paste into Photoshop, Figma, Discord, your email client, or anywhere else without complaints. The extension works on every website automatically. There's nothing to configure, no allowlist to manage, and no toggle to remember to switch on. If it's a WebP, it becomes a PNG. That's the whole thing. Your images never leave your browser. All conversion happens locally using the browser's built-in canvas APIs — no servers, no uploads, no data collection of any kind.
