Exify Firefox

Exify

EXIF and C2PA viewer — effortless image metadata on any website

Features & Capabilities

Exify instantly displays essential EXIF and C2PA information on image hover — and lets you explore and search the full metadata. It supports EXIF, IPTC, XMP, and C2PA data, and shows a Content Credentials badge when available.

Designed for photographers, researchers (OSINT), and curious readers, Exify works by hovering over qualifying images (500px long edge) or via the context menu to reveal a metadata overlay. It shows geolocation information when available (via OpenStreetMap) and keeps privacy intact by not collecting data or usage statistics.

User Reviews

Users appreciate Exify for its clean, lightweight design and ability to show key EXIF data easily, often without extra clicks. However, multiple reviews note it displays only limited metadata and sometimes fails on recent Firefox versions. Users desire features like image resolution display, whitelisting sites instead of blacklisting, and hiding icons when no EXIF data is present. Overall, it is considered a good extension but with room for improvement.
Pros
  • Clean and easy to understand interface
  • Provides the most important EXIF details
  • Allows viewing EXIF info without extra clicks
  • Lightweight and visually neat
  • Functionality meets user expectations well
Cons
  • Displays only limited EXIF metadata, missing full details
  • Does not work properly on latest Firefox versions on some systems
  • No option to whitelist sites, only blacklist
  • Lacks option to show image resolution which some users want
  • Shows icon even when no EXIF data is available, which some users find unnecessary

Is Exify Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

Exify requires a few sensitive permissions. Exercise caution before installing.
