About MUGAK/
MUGAK/ is conceived edition after edition as a frontier meeting place that allows us to transition between the urgencies of the moment and the emergence of proposals that project us towards possible futures. The fifth edition is held under the theme "Castles in the Air, or How to Build Utopia Today," inviting reflection on contemporary utopian thinking in architecture and promoting a dialogue between action and reflection, between pragmatic design and transformative imagination.
With nearly a hundred activities distributed across the three Basque capitals from October 9 to November 14, MUGAK/ brings together renowned international architects, professionals, students, and citizens in a shared space for reflection and experimentation.

What you'll find at MUGAK/ 2025
The central exhibition 'Eu-topias, Ou-topias' features works by renowned figures such as Lesley Lokko, Rem Koolhaas, Peter Cook, and Constant Nieuwenhuys, among others. The biennial is structured around three calls—On Site, Open Mugak/, and Off Mugak/—which bring architecture closer to citizens through ephemeral installations, exhibitions, workshops, visits, and activities in the three historic territories of the Basque Country.
