Features & Capabilities

ePub Creator is a powerful Chrome extension that enables users to convert web pages and library e-books from OverDrive's online reader into offline ePub e-books. It supports any webpage accessible in Firefox's Reader Mode, ensuring most text-based sites can be saved for offline reading. For OverDrive books, it parses the content directly from the online reader, repackaging and optimizing it into an ePub format, although image sizing might vary for some content types like comics.

To use, simply open the desired webpage or OverDrive book, click the extension icon, and wait as the content is processed. The extension uses Mozilla's Readability.js for content extraction, ensuring clean and reader-friendly output. Users should ensure that saving the content complies with local copyright laws. The extension requires permissions for displaying notifications, accessing site data upon user action, and managing its own popups.

User Reviews

Users praise ePub Creator for being simple, one‑click, and effective at capturing images and media from many webpage types. Frequent complaints are sporadic omissions of page content, occasional breakage or Firefox compatibility errors, and missing advanced features (batching chapters, styling, reliable TOC). These strengths and recurring issues are the dominant themes across reviews.

Pros

Simple and easy to use — one‑click conversion/read-mode to ePub
Good at capturing images, links and embedded media from webpages
Works across a wide variety of webpage types and languages
Generally reliable for producing readable ePub files from Reader mode

Cons

Sometimes omits large parts of a page (missing text or code snippets)
Intermittent failures/compatibility bugs (stops working, Reader mode changes, or crypto errors)
No batch/multi‑chapter merging or advanced style/customization options
Table of Contents sometimes broken; some pages/images may be excluded

Recent reviews

Please add a option to download multiple chapters by url, And instead of authors or random title it will be better if it save file with title and chapter number
