Enlight Firefox

Enlight

By: Qeole
Syntax highlight for raw source code.

Features & Capabilities

Enlight is a Chrome extension designed to enhance the readability of raw source code displayed in your browser tab. It leverages the powerful highlight.js library (version 11.0.1) to provide syntax highlighting for 196 programming languages and offers 242 color themes to choose from. Users can activate the extension via the toolbar button, select their preferred language syntax or use auto-detect, and customize the display with line numbering options.

With line numbering enabled, navigating large source files becomes easier by appending a line number (e.g., #l27) to the URL for quick jumps. Enlight makes reviewing and studying code online more intuitive and visually appealing, supporting developers and learners alike in their coding workflows.

User Reviews

I don't know why this isn't core functionality in Firefox and why this extension isn't among Mozilla's "Recommended" either. This extension is an immediate improvement, because I now have a much easier time understanding source files that I open in Firefox. Some slight changes for this to be perfect would be to enable autodetect by default and to choose a more contrasty colour scheme by default (Qt Creator Light/Dark maybe) so the highlighted text doesn't fade into the background.
