SocialMail

SocialMail is a free email service from Germany—with your own address for your city. Instead of @gmail or @web, you use @uelzen.email, @berliner.email, @hamburger.email, @luene.email, @kleve.email, @buxte.email, or @myfrankfurt.email—showing where you're from.

WHAT YOU GET

• Your own @stadt.email address—choose from seven German cities.

• A real IMAP/SMTP/POP3 mailbox. You can use SocialMail not only in this app, but also in Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Outlook, FairMail, or any other email client.

• Import emails from Gmail, Outlook.com, and any IMAP mailbox—including attachments.

• Built-in CalDAV calendar and CardDAV contacts. Sync with DAVx⁵, Apple Calendar, Thunderbird, etc.

• Family mailboxes: up to 5 sub-accounts under parental control. Three modes: Child (full control), Teen (privacy + security), Independent.

• Local classifieds: local classifieds with anonymous in-app chat. No Facebook Marketplace tracking.

• Verified senders with badges — see at a glance who's really writing from your community.

• Push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging, optionally disableable per account.

PRIVACY & SECURITY

• Servers in Germany (Lower Saxony). No data sharing with US corporations.

• No ads. No trackers. No sales lists.

• TLS-encrypted connections for IMAP (993), POP3 (995), and SMTP (465/587).

• Phishing protection in the integrated email viewer: Links from unknown senders require confirmation with a fully visible destination URL.

• Family protection with a trusted sender list, blocking of external senders, and spam protection for children's mailboxes.

FAN LABELS
You don't have to be from one of the cities to use a SocialMail address—we also have city-independent fan labels. Currently, @hsvfan.email is available for all Hamburger SV fans.

OPEN INFRASTRUCTURE

• Autoconfig + Autodiscover (Thunderbird, Apple Mail, Outlook) with one-click setup.

• Mobile configuration profiles for iOS.

• We host our mail servers entirely ourselves, not on AWS/GCP/Azure.


WHAT WE'RE MISSING (to be honest)

This app is version 1.0-rc.1 — meaning: the essentials are running smoothly, and some convenience features will be added in the coming weeks (such as multiple selection in the bulletin board, OAuth setup wizards for Google Calendar). We actively collect feedback and release updates regularly.
