User reviews
Improve Crunchyroll is a popular Chrome extension that enhances the Crunchyroll streaming experience with features like auto skipping intros, subtitle customization, and player improvements. Users appreciate its convenience and integration with anime tracking services. However, multiple reviews highlight recent instability issues, including unreliable skip functions, UI glitches, and incomplete features. While many praise it as a great tool, others have experienced significant malfunctions, especially following recent updates, leading to frustration. Overall, it remains a valuable extension but currently faces challenges affecting functionality on various devices.
Pros
- Improves Crunchyroll viewing experience with features like auto skip of intros and credits.
- Allows subtitle customization options such as turning off subtitles and playback speed adjustment.
- Enhances video player functionality, including hiding the dim screen when paused and resizing the player.
- Supports integration with services like AniList and MyAnimeList to better manage watch lists.
- Generally reliable and appreciated for adding convenience features not native to Crunchyroll.
Cons
- Recent updates have caused instability, making features like auto skip and player resizing unreliable or nonfunctional.
- UI glitches such as the volume bar remaining visible and inconsistent working of the AniList integration.
- Picture-in-picture mode has had issues but seems resolved in recent updates.
- Skipping features sometimes cut off parts of episodes due to inaccurate timestamps, leading to frustration.
- Some functions like ‘mark watched’ do not work consistently across all shows, and omission of dubs in the simulcast calendar is desired but not supported.

I used to love this extension and relied on it daily, but since the recent updates, it has become unreliable. The auto skip feature and player resizing don’t always work I often have to refresh the page multiple times, and even then, it only applies sometimes.
There’s also an annoying UI glitch where the volume bar stays visible after adjusting it, which ruins the viewing experience. It’s frustrating because this extension was amazing before, but right now, it’s just not working properly.
I hope these issues get fixed soon because I’d love to continue using it. Thanks for your hard work!
