WHAT BMI CAN AND CAN'T TELL YOU

BMI compares weight to height. Doctors and public health bodies use it as a first-pass screening number, not a diagnosis.

It can't tell muscle from fat, so it reads high for a lot of athletes, and it isn't designed for children, pregnant women or older adults. The app says so on the result screen, not just down here in the small print.
