GcalColor

Colorize events in the new Google Calendar. (Keywords: Gcal color colors event)

What is GcalColor?
GcalColor is a Chrome extension designed to bring back the colorful display of event names in Google Calendar, a feature that was lost after an update in 2018. The extension turns the event name text to the designated color of the event, improving visibility and aesthetic appeal. It also removes the color dots for a cleaner look and slightly reduced space usage. Users can still customize event colors using the native Google Calendar settings. GcalColor is open source and available for community collaboration on GitHub.

Summary

In the old (pre-2018) Google Calendar, the names of events were shown in different colors. Google changed it to show the names in black, with just a colored dot to the left of the name to show the event's color. This extension changes the text color back to the event's color, and hides the dots. Events take up slightly less space without the dots.

TO CLARIFY, this extension does NOT add new colors, nor does it provide a new way to choose colors. That function is already built into Google Calendar: (1) Each of your calendars has a default color; that calendar's events are shown in that color unless changed. You can change a calendar's color in the Settings. (2) When creating or editing an event, there's a dot that shows the event's color; click the dot to change the color.

Recent reviews
Hi, I really liked this extension, but its behaviour has changed over the last couple of days. Previously if I put a colon after a word at the beginning of an event title, it would appear highlighted in the label colour. This was extremely useful for making particular events visible and distinguishable. But now this facility is gone, can we get it back? Win 11 PC Edit: it's back! I hope it stays, the alternative of coloured text with a dot is hopeless.. added another star

I don't get it. I saw nothing to add custom colors.... and the details literally don't say how to use this. There is NO WHERE to add new or custom colors.

it has changed the name to the color instead of just a colored dot (THANK YOU!) however, I cannot find any additional colors. What am I doing wrong? No + sign or new colors on list thanks!
