EcoSphere Firefox

EcoSphere

Build a small ecosystem where plants, grazers, predators, water, and climate interact over time.

Features & Capabilities

EcoSphere is a local ecosystem simulator for Firefox.

Plants grow and spread according to rainfall, temperature, nearby water, and the configured growth rate. Grazers search for plants, consume food, lose energy while moving, reproduce when conditions are favorable, and die when resources run out. Predators hunt grazers and follow the same basic energy and population constraints.

You can add plants, grazers, predators, and water directly to the habitat, then change rainfall, temperature, and growth conditions while the ecosystem is running. Temporary events include heavy rain, drought, super bloom, and winter conditions.

A population chart tracks changes in plants, grazers, and predators so the effects of overpopulation, food shortages, climate changes, and recovery can be observed over time.

EcoSphere runs entirely inside Firefox and does not require an account, network connection, or external service.

Is EcoSphere Safe?

Risk impact
Risk impact measures the level of extra permissions an extension has access to. A low risk impact extension cannot do much harms, whereas a high risk impact extension can do a lot of damage like stealing your password, bypassing your security settings, and accessing your personal data. High risk impact extensions are not necessarily malicious. However, if they do turn malicious, they can be very harmful.

EcoSphere does not require any sensitive permissions.
