Koda: Taoist Wisdom

One short reading from the Taoist classics each day, in clear English. Read it in a minute. Sit with it if you'd like.

READ
Eight classics, English with the original Chinese alongside: the Tao Te Ching, all 81 chapters; the Zhuangzi in three volumes — Inner, Outer and Mixed Chapters — story by story; the Liezi; the Classic of Purity; the Scriptures of Inner Practice, six short texts with their old commentaries; and On Sitting in Oblivion, an eighth-century manual, translated for Koda from the Chinese. In the Tao Te Ching, compare translations line by line; there and in the Classic of Purity, tap any character for pinyin and a plain reading.

MARK
Highlight the lines that speak to you, keep notes anchored to them, and close each session with one word: settled, lighter, same.

SIT
Short guided audio — a bell, the lines read slowly, then silence — from any reading via "Sit with this."

KNOW YOURSELF
A third way in, rooted in the traditional Chinese calendar. Enter your birth date — the hour is optional — and Koda reads it the way old almanacs did: your nature through the five elements, a short reading for six parts of life each day, and the long seasons a life moves through. Each one arrives paired with a passage from the classics, quoted in full. Nothing to act on.

YOURS TO KEEP
Sign in with Apple or an email code to carry your highlights and notes across your devices. Or stay a guest and read.

No predictions. No medical claims. No streaks to protect. The pace of reading is yours. A quiet date card marks the twenty-four solar terms (二十四節氣) — a note on the season, nothing more.

SUBSCRIPTION
The daily reading is free, every day, and the opening chapters of every book are free to read. Know Yourself is free to set up. Koda Pro unlocks the complete library, every audio session, and Know Yourself in full.
